Something for the weekend: 54mm nudes from Mayfair

As today is International Masturbation Day (no, really, my friend Sophie told me and she lives in Vancouver, so would know) it is time time for another feature from an old Mayfair magazine.

Here, from September 1976, we have an article on 54mm and 80mm white metal female nude models, designed by Cliff Sanderson.  An interesting little article too.  All page scans are clickable.

Painting naked girls makes your hair fall out!

  1. Hi Legatus

What a great post! A long time since your last one, but well worth the wait (I was tempted to say 'a long time coming', but...). My favourite is the lady toying with her (upper storey) hair, with the authentic '70s overgrown bush. Equivalent miniatures these days might well be less hirsute.

Those ads are priceless. I had a look, and you can still get those MCP kipper ties on eBay and elsewhere. Incidentally, those ties share another link with our hobby: apparently the term chauvinist is derived from an old Napoleonic soldier, named Chauvin, who wouldn't give up his Bonapartism, even post 1815 and the restoration of the Bourbons (like Harvey Keitel's character in Ridley Scott's The Duellists).

    Best, Seb

    1. Ha! I knew the name Chauvinist was based on a man but didn't know who. I had to delete some of my old posts/pictures when Google announced it would be deleting any blogs with nudity in them last year. Then they changed their minds. I have a post on some of Angus McBride's saucy pictures for Mayfair under way!

  2. Brilliant! I love Angus McBride's work with Emir Bukhari on Napoleon's cavalry. I think he may also have illustrated biblical stories... the whole gamut! A great artist. I look forward to his particular brand of sauce.

    1. Yes, his Mayfair pictures were done just before his first Osprey ones.
